Ayman Safiah Dancer and choreographer Kufor Yasif village - Upper Galilee/ Palestine Ayman Safiah is a Palestinian dancer and choreographer. He was born in the Kufor Yasif, in the Upper Galilee. Ayman began dancing in his room without the knowledge of anyone except his mother and sister. At the age of sixteen, he began learning to dance under the supervision of a fourth dance instructor, Rabeah Morkus. In 2008, he received the award of the American Academy of Ballet Dance in New York. In 2009, he received a full scholarship to study dancing at the British Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. While studying there, he presented his solo show Tension by Kerry Nicholas, who is known worldwide as one of Britain’s most prominent choreographers and teachers. Ayman participated with the Royal Opera House in many famous ballet performances, including Romeo and Juliet by Kenneth Macmillan, Na- ples by August Bourneville, and The Troy Game by Robert North. He also participated with the Royal Ballet, Stephen McRae and Roberta Marquez in the dance film project A bigger Space foe Dancing by Wayne Sleep (Royal Academy of Arts) and Linha Curva - Rambert Dance Company (Lowry Theatre - Manchester). He also participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London 2012. After graduating, Ayman worked in 2013 with artist Wayne Sleep and Gillian Lynne, designer of lyrical shows Cats, and Phantom of the Opera. He played the role of ‘Mute’ in the show Dear World. Ayman participated locally in several works, including The Biography and the March in 2010 by Remaz Dance Company for Modern and Contemporary Dance, and Bound in 2014 by choreographer Samar Haddad King and produced by Sareyyet Ramallah and Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre (YSDT), and Badke in 2014 for the Royal Flemish Theatre and Les Ballets C de la B - Belgium, the A. M. Qattan Foundation – Palestine, and Against a Hard Surface in 2a017 by choreographer Samar Hadd- ad King and director Amir Nizar Zuabi. These performances were presented at the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival. Moreover, Ayman designed a show Between Two Worlds for the students of Al-Amal School in Nazareth. This show earned great reactions. Ayman taught classic ballet, contemporary dance, and Pilates in Palestinian dance schools, local and international dance camps, including Al-Amal School of Contemporary Dance in Nazareth, Sareyyet Ramallah Summer Dance School, and In- ternational Dance Camp in Spain. Ayman won the Best Solo Show award for his The Store from the Palestine Festival, Inside and Abroad - Paris. 1991 - 2020 Ayman passed away on May 24, 2020. Ayman has left us in body but his work remains with us forever.
